Permanent Makeup
Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation, is used to enhance eyes, eyebrows and lips. It is also used to camouflage the scars resulting from from accidents, burns or surgery by restoring a natural color to the skin and to create the appearance of a nipple/areola after breast reconstruction surgery.
When used to accent the eyes, brows, and lips, permanent makeup provides a natural look without being too bold or "overdone." Micropigmentation can be used to fill in sparse brows, line eyes to make lashes appear thicker or create permanent eyeliner, and outline or fully color lips. To camouflage scars, pigment is applied to scar tissue to help it blend into the surrounding skin and conceal the scar's appearance.
Breast cancer can be devastating, both physically and emotionally. After treatment and surgery, patients often choose to complement the surgical reconstruction process with areola repigmentation (nipple tattooing). The artist chooses the appropriate coloring and placement to recreate the appearance of a nipple and areola, which often provides the patient a feeling of "wholeness." Areola repigmentation may involve up to three visits to ensure optimal results.
