Carpal Tunnel Release
Carpal tunnel surgery or "carpal tunnel release" is required to alleviate the pain, tingling and numbness that result from carpal tunnel syndrome. Nerves and tendons of the hand run through the carpal tunnel, which can be damaged by arthritis, injury, or repetitive motion.
- Length: 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Recovery: From several weeks to 1 year, depending on the severity of the nerve damage before surgery.
- Results: Relief from pain and numbness is likely, but full recovery is uncertain.
